A new exhibition in QUAD Gallery, Glitched!, takes you on a globetrotting adventure in search of pieces of a mysterious object know only as the MacGuffin.

A handheld tablet computer using Augmented Reality is your tool to unlock new 3D environments, discover hidden secrets and piece together the lost MacGuffin.

A MacGuffin is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation. The specific nature of a MacGuffin is typically unimportant to the overall plot.

Glitched: Quest for the Lost MacGuffin is a game-like journey in which the player explores QUAD Gallery, looking for five fragments of a ‘lost’ MacGuffin. These fragments exist as ‘Augmented Reality’ (AR) – visible only through the screen of a handheld tablet computer. Once the five fragments have been found the ‘lost’ MacGuffin is revealed.

But beware! There are decoy MacGuffins – can you find the five fragments of the lost MacGuffin?! And to throw you off the scent, the gallery is full of ‘glitches’ – real-life corruptions or fissures in the everyday world around us that will make your journey around the gallery very interesting indeed!
