About
The UK’s oldest Mela is back but this time in the digital realm.
From 27 July to 23 August, Nottingham Arts Mela will present a four-week programme including film screenings, dance, music, workshops, podcasts, visual arts presentations in our Midday Messages on Instagram and much more, presented on our new festival digital platforms.
This year the theme is Climate, Changed. As the world shifts, all seems in flux. The UK has left the EU, we are in the midst of an increasing environmental crisis, now eclipsed by a pandemic, and still fighting violence and discrimination because of class, race, gender or sexuality.
The presence of COVID-19, or the need for us to change the ways we live in order to redress the damage done to our planet, might bring us to the thought that globally we are, at least in some ways, in this together – but are we? It is hard to see where we are now – less clear perhaps, where we may be going.
