About
The Nottingham Castle Open returns once again, a popular fixture in the local events calendar which celebrates Fine Art and Contemporary Art in the East and West Midlands, and now the biggest art prize of its type in the Midlands region.
By hosting this event we aim to throw a spotlight onto the many committed and talented artists that live and work in our community. Selected through open competition by a panel of professional artists and industry experts, the exhibition offers artists a chance to display, promote and sell their work, while at the same time offering you, the visitor, an opportunity to explore the creative culture that is constantly growing around you… not forgetting a chance to make that unique purchase for your home or business.
With 447 submissions, the selectors spent a long and challenging day deciding which works to include in this year’s Open exhibition. Their brief was to draw together a body of work that represented the wide range of creative practice taking place in our region, from style and medium, to subject and technical ability. From the large number of applications they finally drew together works from 37 artists.
