About

Join us for an evening of talks by creatives based within the East Midlands who work on a national and international scale. Our guests will talk us through their recent projects and how they’ve found the opportunities to thrive in the area. To tie in with our current exhibition ‘Sleeper, Giant’ Show + Tell 2 will be loosely themed around public sculpture, as well as giving us in the inside scoop of what it’s like to work in the arts industry. Our gallery and bar will be open all evening and we’ll also have 10% off everything in our shop – for one night only! Tickets are extremely limited.

Mansions of the Future – COLETTE GRIFFIN
Colette is an artist based at One Thoresby Street – an artist-led studio complex in Nottingham and a producer at Mansions of the Future – a brand new arts space in Lincoln. Mansions of the Future works with the public and within the public sphere – focusing on socially engaged art and extraordinary partnerships between local organisations. Colette is also one of the writers in our new ‘Sleeper, Giant’ book. She’ll be sharing her experiences of writing about ‘Superlambanana’ in Liverpool and making public sculpture in South Korea.

Radar Loughborough – DAVE BELL
Dave Bell is the Programme Co-ordinator for Radar – Loughborough University’s contemporary art programme. The university has a range of public sculpture in it’s collection and is about to undertake a huge project to restore and interpret their collection. Their works will also be documented by Art UK as part of a national database of sculptures in public ownership. Dave will be talking to us about curating the campus.

ALISON LLOYD
Alison Lloyd is an artist based in Nottingham at Primary. Alison’s practice includes curating and commissioning exhibitions, catalogues and projects. Alison will be speaking to us about ‘Bloodlines’ – a project she worked on with artist Stefan Gec for Montage Gallery which was formerly in Derby. ‘Bloodlines’ was a piece of public art – a series of columns alongside the river Derwent. Alison will talk us through the journey of the project – from initial inspiration to installation.
