About
Sileby Drawing Festival is a new festival which celebrates the art of drawing and encourages all ages and abilities to get creative. The festival takes place from 26-29 October in venues across the village, located in the Soar Valley between Leicester and Loughborough.
Free workshops in the week will explore unusual approaches to life drawing, and sessions taking inspiration from the village itself. Throughout the festival there will be drawing resources available in local businesses to encourage people to awaken their creative sides. Contributions will be added to a virtual gallery which will be viewable online.
The festival will culminate in the Sileby Takeover Day on Saturday 29 October, with free, drop-in workshops for all ages, all day. There will be the opportunity to explore alternative and unconventional methods of drawing, from using an iPad to creating your own drawing tools. It will feature workshops from artists Shelly Mastericks, Jason Wilsher-Mills, Jhunik Sarkar and Katty Zwicky.
The festival’s Director, Shelly Mastericks said:
‘We want this festival to be a tool to get all ages together, talking and trying something new. The festival is all about having a go and having fun and engaging in drawing. We are really excited about holding this festival in Sileby, bringing some great artists to the village and engaging with the wider community. We are also really grateful for the support of the Arts Council England, the Parish Council and local businesses that have really made it happen. So pick up a pencil & awaken your creativity at the festival.“
