About

Saturday 27th June 2-4 pm, taking place online via Zoom.

Organised by Jessica Piette.

NN Contemporary Art is delighted to present our second digital Work in Progress, with a talk by ;a place, of their own, and the opportunity for artists and makers at all stages in their careers to present their work-in-progress in a friendly and supportive peer review.

Co-founded by Paula McCloskey and Sam Vardy ;a place, of their own, are an art and spatial research practice. They work on transdisciplinary collaborative research projects that critically investigate entanglements of geopolitics, art, and climate crises. Taking an intersectional approach that responds to (de)colonization and feminist praxis, to create new imaginaries. They have co-produced site-specific performance, video, installations, sound and publications concerning borders, wetlands, geopower, extraction, kinship and ecology.

Work in Progress (WIP) sessions are part of NN’s ongoing digital public programme, which aims to open up space for dialogue, shared learning and making connections in this time of isolation. Previous WIPs have welcomed lead artists such as Sarah Taylor Silverwood, and recently Navi Kaur was invited to lead the first digital session. As NN prepares to reopen at 24 Guildhall Rd with a new Project Space, Education Space, and Civic Reading Room later in the year, hosting a free, online public programme is an important part of the organisation’s commitment to continue supporting the local artistic community.
