About

We are Leicester Zine Library! We aim to be Leicesters’ largest, most diverse and inclusive collection of self-published literature. We want to encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to use their imagination and creative freedom to produce their own publications!

A zine is a small-circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via a copy machine. It can be about anything you want, using drawings, photos, collage, poetry, etc, etc. If you need inspiration we have a collection of over 130 zines for you to browse!

In this workshop you will learn about the history of zines and the subculture as it stands today which will inform the development of your own zines. We will demonstrate simple book binding techniques and provide all materials needed for you to create your own publication!

The session will encourage an informal yet respectful discourse around subcultures/topics/themes involved with zine making and distribution. If you have any questions please get in contact!
