Audience Development Officer

Audiences are at the heart of Leeds Museums and Galleries’ work and the Audience Development team plays a vital role in this across marketing and PR, audience research and digital engagement.

Funded through Arts Council England’s Major Partner Museum programme, key elements of the Audience Development team’s role are to attract larger and more representative audiences to our museums, to invest in audience development, marketing and PR to reach our audience and ensure they are more engaged and involved in what we do. The team works with colleagues across Leeds Museums and Galleries and beyond.

We are looking for someone with experience of audience development in an arts or heritage context, able to lead and deliver on audience development strategies, application and innovation within Leeds Museums and Galleries. You must be able to work with departmental colleagues, external partners, funders and suppliers to effectively meet service, directorate and corporate priorities.

The Audience Development Officer works with the team to:

•Lead and advise colleagues within Leeds Museums and Galleries in effective audience development.

•To work closely with individual attractions to produce annual audience development plans.

•To manage an allocated portfolio of attractions in all their marketing and audience development activity and delivery of major projects.

The post requires a degree level qualification and a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification (or equivalent).

This post is to cover maternity leave and is funded by Arts Council England until 31stMarch 2018 when current Major Partner Museum funding is in place until. Extension beyond this is subject to further funding being secured and the date of post holder’s return from maternity leave.
