Call for art: For The Love Of Colour

We are looking to fill the Carre Gallery with colour, from 28th May to 11th June.

The Carre Gallery is an artist/volunteer run gallery in the heart of Sleaford town centre (a few metres from Hub Sleaford – an Arts Council NPO for craft and design), and has been hosting exhibitions and events since 2008.

We are inviting submissions in 2D and any media (excluding moving image). Works can focus on one colour only,  or multiple – we just want to know how the colour(s) you’ve worked with is/are important to you and your work.

Key exhibition information (submission details are below):

• The exhibition focuses on colour, and therefore we are open to any submissions as long as you articulate the importance of colour in your work and practice
• Submission (up to three works) is free
• A participation fee of £20 will be payable by artists invited to exhibit, payable in advance of the exhibition
• Deadline for submissions: 5pm 16th May 2024
• We may select more than one work from each accepted artist, but this will NOT increase the participation fee of £20
• Selected works do not have to be available to buy but those that are and are sold during the exhibition, will be liable to 25% commission
• Participating artists are invited to supply up to 10 prints of their work, sales of which would be liable to a 25% commission
• Selected works will need to be delivered to the gallery by the artist (or a representative) between 22nd and 25th May, without exception
• Selected works do not have to be framed but MUST be supplied hang-ready: D-rings attached, and securely strung. We reserve the right to reject artworks that are not delivered hang-ready
• Artists (or a representative) must be able to collect any unsold artworks from the gallery, between 12th and 15th June

How to submit:

• Submissions are invited by email to team@carregallery.co.uk
• Please enter “For The Love Of Colour submission” as the subject of your email
• Artists are invited to submit up to three works for consideration
• For each work, please provide:
• Title of your work
• Dimensions (in cm)
• Date created and price (if for sale)
• Materials used
• Description and relevance of colour in your work (and practice)
• Your artist bio, or a paragraph about you and your practice
• Your social media accounts (if applicable)
• Your website URL (if you have one)
• Your contact information (mobile telephone and address)
• Deadline: 5pm on 16th May, 2024
