Communications Assistant

With over 1,600 square metres of light-filled gallery spaces, The Hepworth Wakefield is the largest purpose-built exhibition space outside London. Since opening in May 2011 to public and critical acclaim we have welcomed over 1.8 million visitors. The gallery brings together work from Wakefield’s art collection, exhibitions by contemporary artists and rarely seen works by Barbara Hepworth. In July 2017 we were chosen as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2017 and we value all our staff and their commitment to driving this success.

The Communications & Development team is responsible for maintaining and growing the gallery’s reputation as a world-class cultural centre, for developing audiences for the diverse mix of programming and for increasing income from fundraising sources.

As Communications Assistant, you will provide dedicated marketing, digital and press support with the overall aim of increasing visitor figures, maintaining and growing the gallery’s reputation regionally, nationally and internationally.

You will have a good understanding of communications, ideally gained in a cultural, tourism or third sector environment. You will be an excellent relationship builder, proactive in your outlook and have some experience of creating, programming and monitoring social media content, specifically for the promotion of events or exhibitions.

If you have an interest in the arts, would like to work in a world-class gallery and are looking for a career in communications, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
