Communities Manager (maternity cover)

The Hepworth Wakefield has welcomed over 2.3 million visitors since opening in May 2011 and is now firmly established as a major local, national and international attraction, winning Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2017. We present an outstanding programme of historical and contemporary exhibitions alongside displays drawn from Wakefield’s collection of 20th-century and contemporary art. In an expansion of our waterfront site, in Summer 2019 we will open outdoor sculpture displays in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith. We value all our staff and their commitment to driving our success.

The Hepworth Wakefield is central to the cultural regeneration of Wakefield and our aim is to generate pride in the area and to improve the aspirations, health and wellbeing of local residents. We are now looking for a Communities Manager who will help to support this aim.

This Communities Manager (maternity cover) will devise, deliver and evaluate an innovative and sustainable learning programme for the gallery’s diverse local communities. You will work closely with the Senior Learning Manager and learning colleagues to devise additional programming across the wider site as The Hepworth Wakefield leads the cultural development of the Wakefield historic waterfront, including The Hepworth Wakefield Garden.

We are looking for someone who has a thorough understanding of national and local health and well-being agendas and the experience of developing and evaluating programmes for communities, families and young people gained within a public arts organisation. You will be a highly organised and audience-focused individual with excellent communication skills which will enable you to develop successful and sustainable partnerships and collaborations.
