Development Executive (Grants, Trusts & Foundations)

With our new joint-CEO’s joining us in November, marking a very exciting new chapter for Birmingham Museums Trust and for the city.  We are now looking to recruit an energetic, ambitious and innovative trust fundraiser who is looking to develop a career in the non-profit sector.

As a Development Executive for Trusts & Foundations you will be responsible for securing income from a wide range of public and private sources and also generate income for ambitious capital campaigns that will help safeguard the future of the Trust’s 9 unique properties. You will contribute to developing our fundraising activity through a range of activities and in particular will develop and manage a portfolio of grants at various stages from pre-application through to final evaluation.

Whether you are organising high-profile events, communicating with grants managers and trustees, or keeping accurate database records, you will need to demonstrate high quality research skills together with a creative approach in your writing and excellent relationship building and administration skills.

As part of our small Fundraising team you will be leading the effective management and monitoring of live grants across a wide range of projects.

Key duties required for this role include:

  • Writing compelling, persuasive, detailed and tailored fundraising applications for trusts & foundations and major grants.
  • Maintaining a very high quality in all your writing and attention to detail at all times.
  • Packaging the work of the museum to create applications that are attractive to potential trusts and foundations and tailored to their priorities.
  • Researching potential funders and assessing suitability based on eligibility criteria.
