Exhibition callout for

‘I am mum and……’

A chance to focus on the ‘you’ before becoming anOther… a mOther.

Concept

An open call for artist parents to focus on their creative practice. The exhibition is an opportunity to share those existing artworks that have been hidden away or a chance to steal time and create new art works. Selected works will be exhibited during 27 February – 25 March 2023, at Public café, what once used to be Loughborough Art College, East Midlands, UK.

About Me (the curator)

I graduated as a Graphic Artist and gained a Masters in Museum & Art Gallery Studies. I became an independent Artist Curator soon after I had my first child and was made redundant. I have since diligently and stubbornly dug my heels in, to remain within the field of arts. I continue to participate in creative projects where possible, create art, curate exhibitions and delivered workshops. I now wish to use my curatorial practice to reignite the creative practice of other mums and artist parents.  

Application process

• Application is free
• Photographs of up to 5 pieces of works. Submissions can be 2D, text based and sculpture. Sound and digital works will be considered though resources are limited.
• An artist statement that responds to the exhibition theme (150 words approx.)
• Please start the statement with I am a mum and ………
• An additional image of you, to accompany your statement
• Your website and any social media links
• This information will be used for a specialist blog to promote all participating arts

Other information

• Due to nature of the exhibition, artworks will not be for sale though sales can be organised directly between artist and buyer.
• Exhibition will take place in March 2023. Exact dates to be confirmed.
• If selected, all artworks need to be insured by the artist.
• Artist will be responsible for delivery and collection of work to and from venue.
• Selected artworks must be delivered to the venue ready to hang or install with clear instructions for installation provided.
