Exhibition & Interpretation Assistant

Working across the Lincolnshire County Council portfolio of Heritage Service sites including the recently re-opened Lincoln Castle, the award winning Collection museum and Usher gallery, Gainsborough Old Hall, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, the Exhibitions & Interpretation Assistant will support the delivery of an exciting public programme of exhibitions and interpretation projects to drive visitor volume and deepen engagement with our sites and collections.  The programme will also include a contemporary visual arts programme.

In this role you will assist the Exhibitions and Interpretations Manager and Officer in the development, design and delivery of our programme including the delivery of exhibitions, displays, events, and digital projects covering both our own collections, loaned exhibitions and artefacts and including both heritage and contemporary art. You will be well organised and be able to deliver work on time and on budget. You should have a creative ability and experience of working within the cultural sector and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with the public, colleagues, external stakeholders and volunteers.

As a key member of the Exhibitions and Interpretation team, you will work with colleagues to support the delivery of an associated range of events, exhibitions and learning activities at The Collection and at other venues that are part of the Heritage Service. You will also assist the team in delivering against service and team plan targets.

The Collection is one of Arts Council England’s (ACE’s) National Portfolio Organisations (NPO) and will be embarking upon a four year programme in April 2018.   The post holder will be involved in   maintaining NPO status. Familiarity with Microsoft IT software packages is expected

Some weekend and evening working will be required.

Salary range between £17,000 – £19,000 (Salary Grade G4)
