Lead Artist- Visual Arts

The school is looking for a visual artist or artists to deliver an Arts project during the Spring term. Engaging with groups of junior school pupils, the artist would design and run a programme of creative activities from the schools’ new library-bus, which is stationed in the playground. This programme will inspire and inform site-specific visual artwork which the artist is expected to install in, or on the library-bus, in the latter part of the term.

St Anthony’s is a Catholic primary school in Kingshurst, B37. Staff have recently managed to acquire a magnificent bus, which they have had refurbished and is now sited in the playground, playing its intended role as the school library.

Having turned the bus into a learning space, staff would now like to explore creative ways of supporting the children’s learning, enhancing the way that reading is perceived, and nurturing the appetite of children for books and reading. They would like to see this learning inspire artwork that could be created on the upstairs windows of the bus, and are seeking an artist (or artists) to deliver this project.

We are seeking an artist (or small team of artists) to design and execute this project. You will enjoy and value working with junior aged children in a school setting, and be able to develop a project that will engage and inspire them. Using this as your inspiration, your skills as an artist/illustrator will enable you to execute visually exciting images in a site-specific format. You will have DBS clearance and your own Public Liability insurance.

The budget for this project includes an Artist fee of £1600 plus a budget of up to £500 for required materials.
