Visitor Experience Supervisor

The Hepworth Wakefield opened in 2011 to public and critical acclaim.  The gallery brings together work from Wakefield’s art collection, exhibitions by contemporary artists and rarely seen works by Barbara Hepworth. The gallery has welcomed over 1.5 million visitors since it opened 5 years ago and we are very proud of the visitor experience that we offer and strive to ensure that everyone has an excellent experience.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, resourceful and energetic individual with excellent customer service skills to help lead our Visitor Experience team as Visitor Experience Supervisor. This individual will help champion the experience of every visitor to make The Hepworth Wakefield a ‘must-see’ attraction, acclaimed nationally and loved locally.

The Visitor Experience Supervisor is one of two supervisors who support the Visitor Experience Manager in delivering an excellent visitor experience across the gallery, ensuring that our high standards of customer service are met at all times.  This involves making sure that all visitor operations run smoothly; managing opening and closing procedures; and responding to any health and safety or security issues as well as carrying out administrative duties.  You will take shared line management responsibility for the Visitor Experience Assistants and you will supervise the team of Gallery Host Volunteers.  You will assist in developing and delivering training to ensure the team is highly skilled and motivated to deliver a knowledgeable, friendly and professional service at all times.

You will maintain a working knowledge of the collection and temporary exhibitions and will help promote membership, donations, events, the shop and the café.
