Art X-UK 2022-2023

In 2020, the Government Art Collection (GAC) launched Art X-UK working in collaboration with CVAN across regions in England, Scottish Contemporary Art Network (SCAN), Visual Arts Group Wales (VAGW) and networks in Northern Ireland to acquire over 90 works by artists across the UK.

Following the success of the pilot scheme the GAC will work with two to three networks a year until 2027, with each nominating artists to be considered for acquisition. For 2022-23 the GAC are working with the Visual Arts Group Wales, CVAN East Midlands and West Midlands!

CVAN EM is delighted to partner with the GAC again on this brilliant initiative to recognise and platform the incredibly ambitious work being made by artists based across the East Midlands! We’ll be working with a selection panel made up of artists and arts workers from across the region including Michael Forbes, Joey Holder and Christopher Samuel, with all three having had work acquired by the GAC last year through the inaugural Art X-UK project.

We’re excited to share more details over the coming weeks and months, platforming shortlisted artists and celebrating the acquisition by the GAC of artwork made in the region.
