LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training

In September 2021 CVAN EM and representatives from organisations across the region including Artcore, Attenborough Arts Centre, Hub, LU Arts, NN Contemporary Art, Nottingham Contemporary, Primary and QUAD participated in a LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training session for cultural organisations, delivered by Curious Arts.

In the workshop we looked at supporting gender identities and sexual orientations, exploring approaches to best practice and learning how to be more proactive, accessible, inclusive and informed.

Curious Arts deliver LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training to ensure progression and excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion. In particular, those arts and cultural organisations / freelancers who actively work with LGBTQIA+ artists, audiences, participants and young people.

Curious Arts is a Newcastle based not for profit organisation developing LGBTQIA+ arts, artists and audiences across the UK, a large part of our mission is to enable inclusivity across the arts and culture sector.

Part of Addressing inequalities and under-representation in the Region’s sector, a Professional Networks Grants project delivered with Art Fund support. The project seeks to establish a firm foundation for CVAN EM to positively impact on public programmes and commissioning in the East Midlands. Crucially this project will be a catalyst for urgent work that addresses inequalities and under-representation in the region’s sector.
